Late last year a representative of Dublin City Council contacted me regarding the city hosting a street race. I put them in touch with A1GP.

Now Adam Carroll has spoken about it....
Quote:
Adam Carroll believes track designing firm Tilke Engineering are planning a visit to Dublin, opening up the possibility that the Irish capital could be set to host an A1GP event.

Team Ireland clinched the 2008/09 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport with Carroll behind the wheel at Brands Hatch earlier this month, and the Portadown racer suspects his home country may be about to book a date on the series' calendar.

Tilke Engineering, led by world famous circuit designer Hermann Tilke, are planning to send a two-man team to analyse the possibility of running a street race around Dublin City.

"My understanding is that Tilke are coming to have a look," Carroll told the Irish News of the World. "They are big, big players in the terms of circuit design.

"They are coming to view Dublin as a potential venue for a street track, which would be fantastic for A1GP and Motorsport in general, especially for Ireland.

"It would be a great venue. It works in so many countries and I have no doubt it would work in Dublin."

Carroll's Team Ireland boss Mark Gallagher recently told setanta.com that his driver has pledged to race for him in A1GP when possible, even if he makes a mooted move to Formula 1.

And Carroll would love to win an A1 race around Dublin's streets, to top his victory in GP2 in Monte Carlo.

"The euphoria of winning in Monaco could only be bettered by winning in Ireland - and Dublin's fair city, in particular," he enthused.

According to a report in RTE Sport at rte.ie .....
Quote:
According to sources, it is 'very likely' that the Irish capital will stage a round of the series in early 2010, with the event anticipated to take place between the months of January and April.

How good would that be for Ireland to host a A1 event in there own country. Let hope it comes through for them & A1GP in general as the more tracks the more the series can finaly expand & maybe give us the fans the chance to see 10 or 12 events instead of 7,
Now that would be good especialy with F1 in a bit of turmoil.
